In 2019, a group of Ukrainian environmentalists and entrepreneurs established a space in the Rzhyshchiv community in Kyiv Oblast, where science, nature, and people could come together to collaborate. This is how the “Hlyboki Balyky” ecostation came into being — a place for research, environmental education, creativity, and the search for sustainable community development solutions. The ecostation model proved effective, which became the driving force behind the creation of the Ukrainian Ecostation Network and the expansion of this experience to other communities across the country.

The ecostation serves as a demonstration site where visitors can explore leading practices in regenerative agriculture, ecological sanitation, green energy, and traditional crafts. Nearby, the experimental farm “Pidkova” operates as a space where experts and researchers practice managed (holistic) goat grazing as a method of biodiversity restoration.

Hlyboki Balyky is chosen as a venue for scientific research, seminars, trainings, strategic sessions, internships, expeditions, school and children’s camps, as well as a variety of public events. The ecostation also serves as a local center for environmental education, regularly hosting excursions and lectures with scientists (zoologists, botanists, geologists) and experts.
